A higher price doesn’t always mean higher quality. The difference between premium fashion and fast fashion lies in the fabrics, cut, craftsmanship and philosophy behind the creation of each garment. EX Corde Couture reveals the details worth paying attention to.

In the world of fashion, new collections appear at an extraordinary pace. Trends change, shop windows are refreshed, and clothes increasingly become purchases driven by a passing desire for something new.

But amid all this variety, one important question arises: what actually distinguishes a quality garment from one created primarily with fast production and low cost in mind?

Premium Fashion vs. Fast Fashion

The terms premium fashion (premium fashion) and fast fashion (fast fashion) are often contrasted. And while the difference may seem obvious at first glance, it is not simply a matter of price, logo or brand popularity.

An expensive garment isn’t always high quality. Just as an affordable garment doesn’t necessarily mean compromising on craftsmanship.

The real difference can be found in details we don’t always notice at first glance.

At EX Corde Couture – a Bulgarian premium womenswear brand with original designs and in-house production, we believe quality shouldn’t be just a promise. It should be present at every step in creating a garment.

That’s why we’ll show you six key characteristics that can help you recognize quality womenswear and make a more informed choice.

1. Fabrics – quality begins long before the first stitch

Fabric is the foundation of every garment. It determines not only how a garment looks, but also how it fits the body, feels to the touch, moves with you and wears over time.

When it comes to premium womenswear, the focus is usually on choosing a fabric with the right characteristics for the specific design.

This means taking into account its weight, structure, stretch, durability and drape.

In fast fashion, production is often organized around quickly bringing current trends to market and achieving a competitive price. This can limit the choice of materials, although quality varies considerably between different manufacturers and styles.

How do we choose fabrics at EX Corde?

For us, a beautiful design isn’t enough if the fabric isn’t suited to the garment’s purpose.

When creating our designs, we look for a balance between aesthetics, functionality and comfort.

For example, for some pieces in our sports collection, we use a fabric made of 78% polyamide and 22% elastane.

This combination makes it possible to create close-fitting sportswear with good stretch, allowing the fabric to follow the body’s natural movements.

For other clothing categories, the choice is different because an elegant dress, a sports jumpsuit and businesswear each have different fabric requirements.

For us, a quality fabric isn’t necessarily the most expensive one. It’s the right fabric for the specific design.

2. The cut – the difference between a garment we simply put on and one that fits beautifully

You’ve probably tried on two garments in the same size that fit your body completely differently.

The reason often lies in the cut.

It determines the proportions, the placement of seams, how the garment follows the figure and the freedom of movement it allows.

For quality designer clothing, developing the cut can involve numerous technical decisions, fittings and adjustments before achieving the desired silhouette.

In fast fashion, where production speed is often a key priority, the process can be more standardized.

This doesn’t mean a mass-produced garment necessarily has a poor cut. But for styles with a distinctive silhouette, attention to construction can make all the difference.

Why is the cut so important to EX Corde?

When developing our original designs, we strive for harmony between the fabric, construction and the female figure.

For example, with sports jumpsuits such as EX AERIS and EX Signature VELA, the cut must take into account the fabric’s stretch and the body’s movement.

With elegant styles such as EX VELORA, the focus is on proportions, the line of the silhouette and distinctive design elements.

These are different clothing categories, but the principle is the same: the fabric and cut must work together.

Because even the most beautiful design loses its value if the garment doesn’t fit well.

3. Craftsmanship – the little details that reveal a big difference

When we look at a garment, we first notice its color, design and silhouette.

But the quality of its construction is often found in places we might overlook.

Pay attention to the seams, hems, fastenings, symmetry and how the different parts of the garment are joined.

For well-made womenswear, seams should be suited to the fabric, evenly stitched and durable enough for the garment’s intended use.

Zippers should run smoothly, buttons should be securely attached and hems should be finished with precision.

Quality can vary in mass production, but the drive for speed and cost optimization can sometimes lead to simpler construction methods.

Our own sewing factory – one of EX Corde’s greatest advantages

Unlike fashion brands that outsource all their production to external companies, EX Corde has its own sewing factory in Sofia, Bulgaria.

This is an essential part of our philosophy.

In-house production allows us to be directly involved in developing our designs, choosing manufacturing techniques and refining individual details.

When a design idea needs to be adapted to a specific fabric or cut, we can work directly with the people who turn it into a finished garment.

For us, this is much more than a production process.

It gives us the opportunity to build quality through our own decisions.

4. The people behind the clothes – why experience matters

When we buy a garment, we rarely think about who made it.

Yet quality craftsmanship relies on professional skills developed over years of practice.

One of the most important people in our sewing factory is Orhideya – EX Corde’s head seamstress, with over 20 years of professional experience.

Her knowledge and practical skills are an important part of the process of creating our designs.

Because making a quality garment means more than simply joining pieces of fabric together.

It takes an understanding of how different fabrics behave, the construction of the design, the characteristics of the seams and how each technical decision affects the finished garment.

When developing our new designs, Orhideya’s experience helps turn the initial concept into a real garment.

At EX Corde, we believe the people behind production deserve the same attention we give our finished collections.

That’s why it’s important to us that our customers know not only our clothes, but also some of the people behind them.

5. Longevity – what does a garment cost if we wear it only a few times?

Price is one of the first factors we consider when making a purchase.

But it doesn’t necessarily show how good an investment a garment is.

Imagine two different styles.

One costs €30, while the other costs €120.

If you wear the first just five times, its cost per wear is €6.

If you wear the second 60 times, its cost per wear is €2.

This illustrates the concept of cost per wear – the cost of each wear.

It doesn’t mean a more expensive garment is always better value. But it does show why it’s useful to look beyond the initial price when making a purchase.

Longevity depends on the quality of the fabric and craftsmanship, how often the garment is worn and how well it is cared for.

Our philosophy: quality that makes sense

At EX Corde, we don’t aim to create clothes that are on trend for only a few weeks.

We prefer to develop distinctive designs that can remain part of a woman’s personal style even after a particular trend has passed.

For us, this is one of the important dimensions of premium fashion.

It’s not about how many clothes are in your wardrobe, but the value each one brings.

6. Price – why premium fashion isn’t defined by the price tag alone

A garment’s higher price can be the result of many different factors.

These include the choice of materials, the complexity of the design, production costs, the quantity made, labor and brand positioning.

But price alone is no proof of quality.

A garment may be expensive because of a brand’s popularity, marketing costs or the exclusivity of a particular collection.

Likewise, a more affordable price doesn’t necessarily mean the manufacturer has compromised on quality.

Why does EX Corde choose to invest in quality?

When building our brand, we made a conscious decision to put the focus on the product.

Rather than relying solely on large-scale advertising campaigns and a high-profile presence, we prefer to direct a significant share of our efforts and resources toward developing our designs, selecting fabrics and producing in-house.

For us, the best advertising is the experience a customer has when wearing one of our garments.

The way it fits.

The feel of the fabric.

The precision of the details.

And the confidence it inspires.

This is what premium quality means to us.

Not a display of luxury, but attention to the things that truly matter.

How can you recognize quality womenswear before buying?

Whether you’re choosing a sports jumpsuit, an elegant dress or everyday clothing, a few practical checks can help.

Examine the fabric. Check its composition, weight, surface and drape. With stretch fabrics, see whether they return to their original shape after being gently stretched.

Check the seams. They should be even and suited to the garment’s intended use. For stretch garments, it’s important that they allow movement without creating tension.

Pay attention to the cut. The garment should fit well without restricting movement or creating unwanted folds or pulling.

Examine the details. Hems, fastenings, symmetry and the finishing of individual elements can reveal a lot about the quality of the construction.

Find out about the manufacturer. Look for information about the origin, production process, materials and brand philosophy.

Because making an informed choice is the best way to find clothes that truly meet your expectations.

EX Corde – a Bulgarian premium fashion brand that chooses quality over mass production

In a world where fashion is increasingly measured by the number of new collections, we chose to build EX Corde around a different idea.

To create clothes where quality is the starting point, not the finishing touch.

Our own sewing factory in Sofia, original designs, careful selection of fabrics and the experience of the people behind production are the foundation on which we build our brand.

We don’t believe premium fashion needs to be ostentatious.

We don’t believe a high price is proof of value in itself.

And we don’t want quality to be just a word in our advertising.

We want you to feel it.

In the fabric. In the cut. In the way a garment fits the body. In the little details that often go unnoticed but make all the difference.

Because for us, true luxury isn’t about owning more.

True luxury is choosing better.
